For my off the grid cabin assignment which I have been talking about a lot lately I had a choice to either make a cabin on sketch-up OR make the actual physical model using preferably balsa wood. Firstly if you know me than you probably know that I don’t like to spend money so I started the physical model the cheap way and tried to make my log cabin out of paper, epic fail. It was a big mistake for many reason, the main reasons being time and looks. Time because when I started making the log cabin with paper I actually thought it would be a good idea to make it out of paper so I wasted a lot(3 days) of time trying to make it look good and unique. The time that I wasted in making my physical model I could have been working on my sketch-up version and it would have been done by now. The next problem was quality, in my eyes when I looked at my creation I thought it was the most beautiful cabin model ever made. Then my peers would walk by and say “whats that?” or “that’s the worst cabin I have ever seen”. This made me realize that my cabin wasn’t a good one, so at the end of these sad and emotional 3 days I’m sitting in class clicking on desk tools >Google Sketch-up.
